I'm now running one-to-one training sessions on a variety of web development topics. If you wish to improve your skills, why not see what topics I'm offering and get in touch?
Below I've got some examples of my recent work, in chronological order, starting from the most recent. Most of the freelancing I do tends to be with companies, and with each site I have named the company I worked with. If you wish to hire me, the best way is to fill out that form on the right hand side and I'll get back in touch with you.
WG came to me as a small, local business needing an online presence. The site is managed by Perch CMS which allows them to add & edit content as they require. There is a gallery with JavaScript enhancements and a contact form suited to their needs.
Karyx asked me to integrate the existing static site into Wordpress. This included installing WordPress and then converting the design into a WordPress theme, with a lot of custom code in place to gain the desired functionality.
burrst.in was built to satisfy an itch - how to keep up with all these people on so many different websites. I designed a simple front end, and built the backend application using CodeIgniter 2, a PHP 5 framework.
An agency I had previously worked for required some small tweaks and additions to their nearly finished site for Refugee Action. I wrote a PHP script to fetch content from their MySQL database and display it on the page. I also added some extra JavaScript validation to their contact form and did some bug testing in browsers.
An agency in Bath were looking for a quick turn around on a project. I was supplied with finished PSDs and was asked to convert it into fully semantic HTML and CSS. I also used jQuery for a number of enhancements, including image galleries on each project page, an animated dropdown menu and fading background images.
A local B & B in Cornwall wanted a simple website to give their visitors more information and to gain extra business via the site. I used PHP to create a contact form for visitors to contact them and created a clean design for them alongside F2 Web Design.
During a 6 week work placement I worked for Successful Sites, based in St Andrews. During this time I took mock-ups of their own portfolio site and coded it up completely. There was a lot of advanced JavaScript involved, including animated footers, fade in boxes and a work slider, all written using jQuery. I also used Ajax to pull in their employee's most recent tweets. Finally, I created a PHP script to handle external links. You can see this in action by clicking here.
I designed and developed this site myself. I added jQuery pop ups and fading effects to the social buttons, and coded up a very simple contact form. I also used PHP to pull in an RSS feed of my latest blog post from Tumblr.
Lucy wanted a basic site to show off her new textiles and fabrics site. This included a complex image gallery that had to deal with very different sized images. I also designed the site.
Tony from Arbor wanted a simple site to allow clients to order logs & to find out more about his company. I designed a plain site which looked attractive and was easy to use. I also included a contact form and designed the typographic logo used throughout the site as the header.
After designing the site F2 asked me to add some JavaScript enhancements to the site. I coded my own lightbox design for Smith and also added image rollover effects when viewing images.
